Ms. Alethia, one of the sweetest & down to earth people ever. I remember her being one of my Mom's dearest friends. I hadn't seen her since childhood but we reconnected and reminisced on Facebook, remembering my school days with Maria & Richard and times she spent with my mother. She endured losing her children and was still able to remain a strong, warm & loving soul. Now she is present with the lord and back with her babies. May they all rest in peace. Ms. Alethia will clearly be missed by many.

Many years ago, as a child, I remember meeting Mrs. Mitchell. To me she represented a warm, strong, no nonsense petite, but ever so tall woman worth emulating. Her daughter, Nadar, and I became friends during this time, and as I recall, the two, not only shared the same height, but also that same infections laughter Mrs. Mitchell displayed when feeling tickled. Who would have known that years later, long after losing contact with the family, our paths would cross again. Nadar’s son, Isaiah, whom I love dearly, became heart brother with my daughter, Nell and have remained as tight as any brother and sister can honorably and lovingly be. There relationship and FB reconnected Nadar, “Grandma Mitchell” (Isaiah’s calling) and me. All that to say, “God has away of bringing us full circle, if we let Him. Though I extend my sincere condolences to the entire family on the transitioning into glory, the family matriarch, there is no question in my heart, that Grandma, Mother, Sister, etc., and Woman of God, Alethia Louisa Mitchell and I will see each other again in Heaven.” Without reservation she has prayed that all her family would one day be reunited in the Throne Room of Heaven for all eternity. Mrs. Mitchell (grandma) made her choice to serve the Lord while the blood ran warm and breath was in her body, on this side of life … now she’s resting in the arms of Jesus. I’m told that on several occasions she is quoted as having said, “I’m ready to go be with the Lord now.” Where we spend eternity depends on our individual choices in the here and now. “ Choose ye this day whom you will serve” (Joshua 24:14-15).

Hi, I am De'Nita Mitchell-Wright and Richard T. Mitchell was my Uncle (my dad's brother. My dad was William "Billy" Mitchell). I met my Aunt Alethia a few years ago on social media. I had planned to go visit her but then COVID and LIFE got in the way. I met Miss Alethia in my line dance class at Mount Hope Community Center and fell in love with her immediately.
