Obituary of Kenneth V. Monteiro
Kenneth Monteiro of 51 Chapel Terrace in Newport, Rhode Island, lost his battle against cancer on January 28th. He was brave and lived with dignity till the end.
Kenny was born on April 17th, 1959, in Newport; he was the beloved son of the late Manuel and Isabel Monteiro.
Kenny was a kind and gentle man. He was always ready to help anyone in need, never having any bad words to say about anyone. He took each day as it came, and whatever that entailed, he did so with a smile.
He loved his cats and had special bonds with neighborhood dogs. He always had treats or bags of tennis balls to give to his favorites. It can be said that he was responsible for spoiling more than a few of them. These dogs would recognize the sound of his car and always got ready for a cheerful greeting from him.
Kenny was a well known fixture on John Street where he lived for a few years. He was ready and able to help neighbors with projects of any kind. He was diligent about his work, and he worked hard. He was very detail oriented and didn't miss anything that he thought needed to get done.
Kenny had friends from all walks of life, of every age. All were treated with the same quiet kindness.
He also liked to fish in which he was very successful at. He could seek out a big run of stripers, and sure enough, he could catch them. Just imagine Kenny on his bike with 45 inch stripers hanging on the handlebars…What a guy!
In his last days, Kenny was surrounded by his devoted friends and family, who lovingly cared for him and let him leave this world in peace and dignity.
He was well taken care of by his loving cousin Brenda Boyd, as well as his long time friends Cindy Walaski and Stella Martin. A special thank you to them along with the visiting nurses.
Today, He is survived by his son, Kenneth Shemeley, and his daughter, Shianne Shemeley. Along with his brother, Michael Monteiro, and his nieces, Deanna Rogers and Christina Pine.
Kenny, you will truly be missed and never forgotten. May your soul rest in peace now. We love you!
