Obituary of John Palmieri

John T. Palmieri, 87, of Fort Myers, Florida passed away on March 27, 2016. He was the beloved husband of the late Carol (Van Compernolle) Palmieri. They had been married for 57 years. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Margaret Ferrara and Giovanni Palmieri. Previously living in North Providence, Narragansett, Lincoln, Providence, and Kansas City, MO, he was a devout Catholic and Veteran of the Korean War being honorably discharged in 1952. John was a buyer for the Outlet and Shepard Department Stores of Providence and the Emery Bird Thayer Department Stores of Kansas City, MO prior to the founding of JJ’s Carpet Outlet in Seekonk, MA where he worked until his retirement. John was a sport enthusiast enjoying horse racing, football, and other events. He is survived by his daughters, Maria and husband George Racine of Naples, FL, Helena and her husband Giovanni Illiano of Scituate, R.I., and son, Dr. John Palmieri and his husband Dr.Tristan (Gorrindo) of Washington, D.C.; grandchildren, Jennifer and her husband Jason, Joey, and Marissa and her fiancé, Chris, Phillip Aust, Rachel and Tyler Racine of Naples, FL; great-granddaughter, Mackenzie; and his sister Carmela (Palmieri) Pari of North Providence, wife of the late Cidio Pari. Friends and relatives are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at Blessed Sacrament Church in Providence at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, April 8, 2016.
