Obituary of Florence Garrahan

Garrahan, Florence A. (Viets), 93 of Providence, passed away Monday, February 15, 2016. She was the wife of the late John E. Garrahan, Jr. Born in Bridgewater, MA, she was the daughter of the late Harry A. and Charlotte (Randall) Viets. She had lived in Providence since 1967. Mrs. Garrahan was a Social Worker, working in Adult Protective Services for the State of Rhode Island for 20 years, retiring in 1986. She loved oil painting and especially loved spending time with her family. She is survived by her four children, John E. Garrahan III of Providence, Michael R. Garrahan and his wife Patricia of West Warwick, William D. Garrahan and his wife Arlene of Chepachet and Sharon Blake of Warwick; eleven grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was also the mother of the late Wayne A. Garrahan, Elaine Sheehan and James Garrahan and sister of the late Warren Viets. A funeral service will be held Saturday, February 27, 2016 at 11 AM. Visitation 9-11 AM, prior to the service. A private burial will take place at Mt. Prospect Cemetery in Bridgewater, MA.
