Obituary of John Dekevich
John A. Dekevich, 71, of Cranston, passed away unexpectedly at his home. He was born in Providence, a son of the late Frank A. and Marie (Picanza) Dekevich.
John recently retired after 23 years from the State of Rhode Island in the department of taxation.
He loved his dogs (Buddy and Blondie), whom he adopted from shelters, traveling all over the world, especially Europe, celebrating his Italian and Lithuanian heritage with travel, cooking, and practicing their respective customs. John also spoke four languages fluently and was committed to his faith by participating in many church activities and attending services regularly.
Some of his interests were genealogy, gardening, and helping people.
He leaves his brother Frank Dekevich and nephews David and Steven Dekevich. John was the brother of the late Anne Marie Dekevich.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, December 2, 2022, at 10 a.m. in St. George Maronite Catholic Church, 1493 Cranston St., Cranston. Burial will follow in St Ann Cemetery, Cranston.
