Obituary of Unique Surprise Lovegrove

PROVIDENCE - Unique Surprisé Lovegrove, 39, was called home on September 23, 2021. She was born in Providence, RI, on October 31, 1981. The daughter of Crystal Kim Lovegrove and Gary Stephen Johnson. Unique graduated from East Providence High School, Class of 1999. Following graduation, she attended the University of Rhode Island, where she was very involved in the university Flava Unit Dance Team. After leaving college, Unique began a working career in documentation that spanned over 18 years as a Quality Assurance and Procurement Specialist with companies such as Amgen, Evoqua Water Technologies/Neptune-Benson, Blue Cross/Blue Shield, CVS, and a host of others. Unique joined the D2L youth ministry at Faith Christian Center in her early teen years. She became a member as an adult. Unique loved the Lord and gave herself to Him in her teen years. Unique was an avid reader and an inspired writer. However, her greatest passion and love was the love of her family. She was a fierce protector and loving mother to her children Jahlen Mendes and Natasha Mendes. She was predeceased by her aunt Kim L. Henries, step-brother Wayne K. Maddox, her uncle Frederick W. Lovegrove and her grandfather Ronald G. Henries Sr. In addition to her children, she leaves behind her mother Crystal Kim Lovegrove, her father Gary Johnson (Joann), sister Candace Lovegrove, brother Jordan Johnson, step-brother Marcus S. Maddox.  She also leaves behind her grandmother Carol Henries, her grandfather George K. Johnson, Sr., aunts Angie Lovegrove and Mariella Lovegrove, uncle Francisco Viera, uncles, George, Jeffery, Michael and Marc Johnson, uncles Hawk, Derek, and Darryl Henries, an aunt Pam Matthews, niece Jayla C. Lovegrove, nephew Cayden M. Vega Lovegrove, and the following cousins that she grew up with:  Divina Lovegrove, Alexandria Crystal Lovegrove, Genesis Camacho, Adrianna Lovegrove, Angela Page Hawkins, and Robert Pares McCutcheon.  Additionally, Unique also leaves behind co-parent of her children, Ambrose Mendes, Jr., with who she continued to have a close and loving friendship with, and her beloved sister/friend, Sha Barboza, along with a host of additional aunts, uncles, cousins, and numerous loving friends.  Everyone will miss her presence very, very deeply. Unique’s going home service will be held at Faith Christian Center, 95 Sagamore Road, Seekonk, MA, on Saturday, October 2, 2021, at 1:00 pm.    If you wish to send flowers, the family requests a selection of yellow and white flowers in honor Unique’s favorite color choices of yellow and white.
