Obituary of Jennie Zawasky

Jennie Zawasky, 96, of Barnegat, NJ, passed away on Monday, March 29, 2021. Born in Providence, Jennie was the daughter of the late Charles and Rose (Borkowski) Kuczynski. She was also married to the late Rudolph Zawasky. Jennie graduated from Central HS in Providence, RI. She retired from TACO Heaters, Inc., Cranston, RI, at the age of 69 after working there for 39 years as a bookkeeper. Jennie loved to garden and enjoyed ceramic classes for many years. Most of the pieces Jennie created were lovingly given to family members. She was a regular attendee of St. Philips Church in Greenville, RI, where she was an active member of the Legion of Mary. After retirement, Jennie was associated with the Department of Elderly Affairs in Smithfield, RI as a Senior Companion helping other seniors until the age of 88. She was also a member of the Cranston Grange. In 2014, Jennie moved to NJ to live with her daughter, Pat. She loved attending Seacrest Day Care, where she enjoyed all activities with her friends. Jennie loved her weekly visits to the hairdresser at Seacrest and came home looking like a true Beauty Queen. Jennie was actually crowned Ms. Senior Day Care in September of 2018 in a grand ceremony at Seacrest. She loved playing Bingo, Bunco and was consistently named "The Yahtzee Queen" when playing with her NJ family. Jennie also enjoyed the monthly luncheons she attended at the Waretown United Methodist Church as well as with the local Red Hat Gals. Jennie had a quick smile and a gentle personality. She will be sorely missed by all who had the pleasure of being in her company. Jennie is survived by her daughters, Kathleen Zawasky-Altham, Pat Lathom, 8 grandchildren,10 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, and grand-nephews. A visitation will take place on Wednesday, April 7, 2021, from 9:30 am to 10:30 am in the Supinski & Borrelli Funeral Home, 168 Academy Avenue, Providence. A Mass of Chrisitan Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am in St. Adalbert's Church, 866 Atwells Avenue, Providence. Burial will follow at St. Ann Cemetery, 73 Church Street, Cranston. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Waretown United Methodist Church, 27 Bryant Street, Waretown, NJ 08758. Face masks are required, and social distancing will be observed.
