Obituary of Stanley Balkum

Stanley R. Balkum, 96, passed away Saturday, October 1, 2016 at Hospice & Palliative Care Rhode Island. He was the widow of Hildur (Carlson) Balkum.
Born in Providence, a son of the late Wincenty and Boleslawa (Niedzwiecki) Balkum, he had lived in Providence for 92 years before moving to the Bridge at Cherry Hill in Johnston 4 years ago.
He worked as a production manager for GE Baseworks until 1962 before becoming a self-employed real estate investor.
Mr. Balkum was an Army Air Corps World War II veteran where he was assigned to a B-24 flight squadron in the Pacific Theater.
Stanley was a communicant and trustee of St. Adalbert’s Church.
He is survived by his sisters Celia Landi and Helen Allenson and several nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Frank Balkum, Regina Karoll, and Lucy Novak.
His funeral will be held on Thursday at 9:30 am from the Hoey-Arpin-Williams-King Funeral Home, 168 Academy Ave., Ave., Providence with a Mass of Christian burial in St. Adalbert Church, Atwells Ave. at 10AM. Relatives and friends are invited. Visitation
will be on Thursday from 8:30am to 9:30am in the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Ann’s Cemetery, Cranston. ARRANGEMENTS BY SUPINSKI & BORRELLI.
