Obituary of Gilbert Bessette

Gilbert M. Bessette, 92, of Pawtucket, passed away Thursday, October 26, 2017. Born in Pawtucket, he was the son of the late Alfred and Mary (Cavanaugh) Bessette. Gilbert was a WWII Navy Veteran, serving in the war at the same time with four of his brothers. He worked in the retail hardware business, starting with Bessette Hardware, the family business. He later worked for Drolet Hardware and then Landry Hardware. He is survived by his brother, Paul Bessette, his sister, Virignia Fortin, and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Alfred, William, Phillip, and John Bessette. Relatives and friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial Tuesday at 10:45AM in the Jeanne Jugan Chapel, 964 Main Street, Pawtucket. Burial with military honors will be in Mount Saint Mary Cemetery, Pawtucket. Relatives and friends are invited. Visiting hours Monday from 4-7pm in the Jeanne Jugan Home, 964 Main Street, Pawtucket. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Little Sisters of the Poor, 964 Main Street, Pawtucket, RI 02960. Arrangements by Costigan-O’Neill Funeral Home.
